:) yay been ages since I posted on my blogs ... Sorry guys! Been in Beijing for a week and sadly the hotel did not have free Internet. Beijing's metro system is nowhere as good as Guangzhou's ... For several reasons:
1. Like Australia, getting to the airport via train/metro costs much more than a usual ticket. In Guangzhou getting to the airport is 7 or 8 yuan ish ... Which is the equivalent to like a little over 1 dollar in AUD. dollars. Dollar. Sounds weird. Anyway. It costs 25 yuan in Beijing ... And you have to buy a separate ticket to go to the airport. But compared to Australia's $10+ that's nothing ...
2. You have to walk like ... Several hundred meters to change lines. Like omg. Changing trains is so annoying! You walk in this tunnel thing and just keep walking and walking and walking ... Sometimes it feels like it will never end :(
3. Bag scanner things are really annoying. The first time I caught the metro I was like :O what the he'll is happening?! Turns out that if you take a bag with you (including normal little side bag thingos) you have to shove it into this scanner thing like at the airport :/ weird? Seems quite inconvenient when you catch the metro every day to work or school ...... But then again when I told cousin Winyi she said that that's also the case in Guangzhou when there are special events on.
And another side note ... Airport security much more strict. Like in Guangzhou bit though ... More strict that international :/ they made me take my boots off and take out this small cosmetics scissors I had ... And fully scanned my whole body. International is just like .. No food. then ladida they don't really make you take stuff off. Unless the machine beeps like crazy I guess ....
I just realized how much I diggressed. ANYWAY. 'today' we went to 天坛 which is the temple of heaven. It was the tourist attraction that was the most boring and seemed to be a waste of time. Probably cause it was right after the summer palace which was ... Omg SO PRETTY. So my brother was talking and all of a sudden he was like '我们现在是不是在天堂? ' which means are we currently in heaven. Cause 天坛 is similar in pronunciation to 天堂. And then obviously my mum starts bursting out laughing but of course hurriedly said that whole 大吉利是 thing which kind of means ... Touch wood? I dunno. Yeah. But then my brother argued and said what?! After my mum explained his mistake to him, saying that being in heaven is good, cause you're not in hell.
Later that night we finally found a shopping centre (not really .. Like Coles/woolies? You know ... 超市?)! (a few days later we found a grocery store opposite our hotel ... We felt like idiots). Jason wanted to point out this pantene shampoo to me (mum wanted to buy some shampoo and conditioner and hair gel cause she didn't like the ones that the hotel provided) but then ended up knocking down the entire row. He was like 'Jennifer, look!' and then he pointed ... But then the row of pantene bottles fell down like dominoes :L it was even more awkward cause the woman trying to recommend shampoo products to my mum did that whole tsk tsk thing and said that they fell down very easily. Jason was just like >.> (my msn emoticon which consists of this yellow person looking left then right then left then right suspiciously). Later he figured out why he knocked it over.
Turns out he was wearing stiff (leather?) gloves which were too big for him so his fingers didn't go the end. So when he pointed he was expecting his fingers to just meet the shampoo ... But then the extra bit of the glove finger managed to be stiff enough to knock over the entire row. Yeah, when he told me we laughed really hard cause we thought it was so funny :D
I honestly should post some other things ... Except I need photos and this iPad won't get my photos off my camera. The only computer in the house is permanently jogged by my brother who has played ... Mahjong and ... Crossfire? And a whole bunch of- RIGHT AND YUGIOH other games. He won't even let me play. He's a hogger.
Today he was playing on cousin Charles' iPad and I really wanted to play cause I'd never played the games before and they looked really fun ... But HE HOGGED IT FOR THE WHOLE LUNCH AND EVEN WHEN I COMPLAINEDTO COUSIN WINYI HE STILL DIDN'T LET ME PLAY. Meanie poo.
