20/12/2011 - chicken powder

today mum told us to eat noodles for lunch.

i was really lazy so i told jason to learn how to make them (i.e. GO MAKE THEM JASON) and so he was like OH YEAH i'm going to show you that i know how to make instant noodles and that i'm so good at it.

don't you guys do that all the time? like i try to prove to someone like my mum i can do something :) but i hate it when it fails cause it just makes me look even worse :(

so first he runs the noodles under water to 'clean' it and then he pops it into the pot thing. we don't use the flavouring cause it's unnecessary and unhealthy (and these noodles are REALLY HOT FLAVOUR and we would die if we ate the flavouring) so we add salt and chicken powder instead. so my brother takes the salt out of the normal cupboard bit where the sugar, vinegar, etc. is all kept but then he takes the chicken powder from another cupboard which we don't usually keep stuff like that in. i disregard this.

he puts about half a teaspoon of salt into the noodles. he puts the salt back into the cupboard where it belongs. so next comes the chicken powder tin. he opens the lid of the metal cylinder asian chicken powder (do you guys know which i'm talking about?) and he adds a teaspoon in. he puts the teaspoon back into the chicken powder tin and opens the cupboard  he took it from to put it back.

it is at this moment that MY MUM WALKS IN.

my mum looks at my brother putting the chicken powder back into the cupboard and suddenly does the whole ayayayyayayaya thing (not the AY-ya but the really quick aayayayyaayyayayayaya one) and asks jason if he just added the stuff in the tin into the noodles. my brother nods. then my mum starts laughing. and laughing. AND THEN SHE STARTS CACKLING. my brother and i look at each other in that whole 'i think mum just went crazy look'. so naturally my brother looked at mum and said 'isn't it chicken powder?' then my mum says 'no, it's milk powder! i put the milk powder into the chicken powder tin to save space!!!' and so my brother and i were just like O.O

mum then asked jason why he didnt take the chicken powder from the place where the seasoning stuff is normally kept, and he said that the last time mum made noodles she took the chicken powder from the other cupboard :\ and the weird thing was, the milk powder was the same tinge of yellow as the chicken powder and it looked really similar D: so yeah. we added one teaspoon of milk powder into our noodles. yay! extra calcium for the day.

anyway, i dont think the noodles tasted any different but according to my brother the noodles tasted different to how they usually taste like ...
